I was at Lake Louise in Banff NP, Alberta, Canada last month when I came upon this scene. First, I was surprised when I arrived at the lake that it was still somewhat frozen. I suppose living in Houston make us oblivious to the fact that it's still cold in a big part of the world in the month of May. I like this scene because of the irony of the canoes being lined up and ready to go...nowhere. The contrast of the cloudy, muted colors of the scene against the bright red canoes also caught my eye. Lastly, there were probably 300+ people around the lake at this time. I was happy to capture the shot in a way that makes it look remote and isolated.
